Abstract
Physical vapor deposition (PVD) techniques, such as sputtering and evaporation, allowed for the development of novel coating composition and microstructures that can lead to enhanced corrosion resistance. Recent advances in the production of corrosion-resistant PVD coatings are highlighted, along with the studies made on nonequilibrium Al alloy deposits produced via sputter deposition and electron beam PVD. In addition, selected published literature on corrosion-resistant PVD coatings are reviewed.
