Abstract
There is a possibility that the young adult and even older age person may have mild defects in phagocytic cell function, causing impaired cellular mobility which might blunt the inflammatory response to bacterial infection, or have abnormal development of specific antibodies, antistaphylococcal IgE as has been postulated for this syndrome. The patient's problem may take years to fit together well, but eventually a unifying diagnosis can be established.
