Abstract
In countertrade there is often a linking of specific exports with particular imports. UNCTAD has reservations about this practice. It is a threat to multilateral trade. Countertrade is either counter-purchase or barter. The points of view of UNCTAD, the IMF, and GATT are explained.-D.J.Davis
