Abstract
The creep response of a floor system fabricated with wood I-joists and oriented strand board (OSB) sheathing was measured for 280 days under uniformly distributed sustained loads equivalent to design dead plus 25% of design live loads. Creep response of the floor system nearly stabilized after 168 days of loading. The ratios of total to initial joist deflections after 168 and 280 days of loading were 1.76 and 1.73, respectively. The deflection ratio was 57 % greater than that reported by Fridely, et al. (1997a) for a floor system fabricated with dimension lumber joists and plywood sheathing. Differences in observed creep responses, however, might be influenced by test exposure conditions. Fridley, et al. tests were conducted under constant temperature and humidity; study test temperature and humidity varied as in a typical house.
