N2 - A benchmarking project was performed at the Walthousen Critical Reactor Laboratory [1] at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Schenectady, NY, with the goal of submitting a benchmark to the International Criticality Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project [2]. A detailed model of the reactor was created using MCNP4C2 [3] using precise data for the reactor component compositions and dimensions. The model was then tested by using it to calculate keff at the experimentally-determined critical rod bank height and critical water height. The model was found to accurately predict keff for these conditions.
