Abstract

A process to form small holes in thin gold or silver films was described. The process worked for films as thin as 25 nm. For thinner films, the process formed particle-like structures instead of small holes. It was expected that the produced films would find applications in optical studies on surface plasmon induced transmission and other related phenomenon.
