Abstract

Morphological information on cyanine dye J-aggregates adsorbed on practical AgBr emulsion crystals was visualized in full color by analytical color fluorescence electron microscopy (ACEM). Fluorescence spectra recorded by ACEM helped to confirm the light-emitting materials as J-aggregates of the dye. The size of the aggregates was approximately 30×70 nm, and, with increasing dye adsorption, the aggregates grew in size, not in number. The aggregates aligned on [110] or [210] directions on the (100) surface of AgBr.
