Abstract

Lymphoma of the thyroid gland is an uncommon condition occurring primarily in middle-aged and older women. Most patients present with a non tender, fast enlarging thyroid mass accompanied by locally obstructive symptoms such as dysphagia, stridor, dyspnea and sometimes with the symptoms of an acute superior vena cava syGermann_reformedome. Coexistent Hashimoto's thyroiditis and thyroid lymphoma occur in most cases. In this case, we present a 47-year-old woman with a primary thyroid lymphoma. Open biopsy allows to exclude an anaplastic carcinoma in inoperable situations. Two years after combined radio-and chemotherapy there is no sign for a relapse of the tumour.
