Abstract
A series of ZnxCd1-xS solid solutions supported on Al2O3 were prepared, and investigated in the plasmainduced H2S decomposition. Structural and optical properties of the as-prepared catalysts were characterized by XRD, N2 physisorption, UV-vis, TEM and XPS techniques. All ZnxCd1-xS/Al2O3 catalysts showed relatively high activities for H2S decomposition. The catalytic activity is found to increase gradually when the Zn concentration on catalysts increases from 0.2 to 0.6. Subsequent increase in the Zn fraction up to 0.8 leads to lower H2S conversion. Variation in activity is discussed in terms of modification in the conduction band and light absorption ability of ZnxCd1-xS/Al2O3 derived from the changes in the Zn/Cd molar ratio.
