Abstract

We have observed degenerate four-wave mixing process in a nematic liquid-crystal film using low-power cw lasers. The conversion efficiency was measured to be about 10-4 for incident optical intensities on the order of 10 W /cm2. The effect is arttributed to optically induced molecular reorientation.
