Abstract

A new method for the preparation of supported Pt-Cu catalysts was developed using polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers. Pt(NH3)2(NO2)2 showed the most consistent Pt/Cu ratio. The kinetics of binding Pt(NH3)2(NO2)2 and Cu(NO3)2 to the dendrimer were studied at room temperature. Pt-Cu ratios were varied and the resulting catalysts were evaluated with CO oxidation, toluene hydrogenation, etc. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 228th ACS National Meeting (Philadelphia, PA 8/22-26/2004).
