Abstract

Depolarized rayleigh scattering was investigated in several organic liquids using both grating and interferometer analyzing instruments. Direct experimental measurements were made of the frequency shift of the shear doublet as a function of temperature and scattering angle and of the complete depolarized half-intensity width as a function of temperature at a fixed scattering angle. The values thus obtained were combined to determine the temperature dependence of the coupling parameter for one of the liquids.
