Developing a Systematic Planning Process for Robotics Implementation in Construction

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contribution

Abstract

The construction industry is advancing towards automation in constructing buildings and infrastructure by deploying robotics into construction projects. However, a comprehensive and strategic approach to planning and implementing construction robotics in the industry was not identified in the literature review. The process for planning the implementation of construction robotics was developed using a design-thinking approach to aid champions in a project or an organization eager to implement construction robotics. Two personas were set to develop the first draft of the proposed process, and then the process was optimized using a creative thinking method (SCAMPER). The developed process was used in the project to get feedback for creating a better process. This process was documented within the open-access Planning Guide for Construction Robotics.
