abstract = "The exploding wire method has been leveraged in many recently developed facilities to study shock and blast wave physics. The current work discusses the development of an exploding wire facility at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The electrical design of the exploding wire driver and the mechanical design characteristics of the facility are discussed. Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations modeling the blast waves from the exploding wires were performed. The results indicate a linear relationship between the embedded explosion energy and shock Mach number. It is also observed that the confined shocks more closely resemble two-dimensional planar shocks as they progress through the tunnel.",
