Abstract
A sculptured nematic thin film (SNTF) slab with sinusoidally nonhomogeneous permittivity dyadic is shown to act as a polarization-discriminatory bandstop filter for normally incident light. A cascade of two matched SNTF slabs is shown to act as a polarization-insensitive rugate-like filter.
