Abstract

Kawasaki syndrome (KS) is a serious disorder affecting children aged 1 to 8 years. It mimics a range of other diseases of childhood. Diagnosis is based on physical examination findings coupled with the exclusion of other causes. To provide optimal care for patients, it is important to be aware of the differential diagnoses of KS, which include bacterial and viral infections; rheumatological diseases, which may be secondary to infectious diseases; and other causes, such as antimicrobial drug reactions.
