Abstract
High-temperature transients of concrete upon dehydration are studied both analytically and experimentally. A self-similar temperature profile is measured that supports the analytical approach. The similarity behavior implies that heat transfer in concrete is only weakly coupled to process of dehydration and moisture migration. Comparison between the analytical and experimental results indicates that the average values of thermal diffusivity of concrete at elevated temperatures can be several times smaller than the values at moderate temperatures.
