Abstract

The dispersion curves in the guided wave testing of aluminium plates were studied. The guided waves are ultrasonic waves which propagate differently from the longitudinal and shear waves. Dispersion curves were used to describe and predict the relationship between frequency, phase velocity, group velocity, mode and thickness.
