Abstract

This study represents an analysis of student performance in computer information systems (CIS) courses using the Felder-Silverman Index of Learning Styles (ILS) to examine academic success in CIS courses. For this study, academic success is measured by grades achieved. The ILS measurement scale was self-administered by students enrolled in CIS courses from fall 2008 through spring 2013. Our study found a significant difference between students’ grades and learning styles. We also found a significant relationship between students’ grades and the Active vs-Reflective index score.
