Abstract

Over the last half a century since their discovery, Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) and Lithium Tantalate (LiTaO3) ferroelectrics have had a significant impact on electro-optic and nonlinear frequency conversion technologies. This talk will briefly describe this history, and focus more on the recent scientific insights in the last two decades that have changed the landscape of their technological use.
