Abstract
The downstream flow irregularities in an outlet cannula of a rotary ventricular assist device (VAD) were investigated. Rotary VAD still have many complex issues such as bleeding, infections, thromboembolic events, and strokes. It was observed that within the inner half of the cannula, multiple flow structures are noticed moving in a cyclical nature while propagating downstream.
