Abstract
A set of equations is developed for the description of heat and mass transfer and film shrinkage in the drying of polymer films. The utilization of jump balances in the formulation of boundary conditions at phase interfaces is illustrated, and a solution scheme is developed for solving the coupled, nonlinear equations. The proposed model will produce the size of drying over needed to reduce the solvent concentration to the desired level. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
