Abstract
The paper describes a more rational method for predicting seismic responses of large reinforced concrete conduits. The effects of soil-structure interaction, soil layering, material nonlinearity and ground water table fluctuation are investigated using the proposed approach. Results obtained from the refined method are compared with those from the simplified method currently used in practice.
