Abstract
This paper outlines a nonlinear dynamic model of a once-through subcritical steam generator for solar thermal plants. The purpose of the model is to describe the overall system performance and component interaction with sufficient accuracy for controller design, rather than to describe the microscopic details occurring within the steam generator. The model equations are arranged in state-space form to facilitate digital simulation and control system design. The modeling methodology is an extension of the earlier work of Ray and H. E. Bowman.
