E. Coli gene expression in biofilms

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

Researchers of Texas A&M University analyzed the differences in gene expression of Escherichia coli K-12 bacteria in their free floating and in biofilm of different ages. The group found that gene expression differed more in young biofilms four to seven hours old than it did in older biofilms 15 to 24 hours old. Among the 93 mutants identified and studied, 76 showed altered activity in biofilm formation.
