Abstract
An experimental study of the effect of 120 MV/m-electric field on the current-voltage curves of monolithic (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (2223) superconductors at 77 K is reported. Large textured 2223 plates were fabricated by cold isostatic pressing and sinter forging of powder material. The critical current Ic0 and conductivity of the samples have been found to increase appreciably in an electric field for currents I>Ic0. The electric field effect is reversible, is observed for different field orientations relative to the pressing direction, and is retained in magnetic fields H<200 Oe.
