Abstract

The effect of oxygenated fuel on combustion and emissions in a light duty turbo diesel engine was studied. A blend of 20 wt % monoglyme and 80 wt % diglyme, referred to as CETANER, was examined as a diesel reformulating agent. The results demonstrated that the oxygenated fuel provided significant reduction in particulate matter with a small penalty on NOx emission at high load. The small reduction in HC and CO emissions under most conditions indicated an improvement of combustion efficiency.
