Abstract
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of emotional status on a patient's use of Factor VIII concentrate by assessing the relationship between psychiatric intervention and a patient's use of Factor VIII concentrate over a given time period. This patient reduced his use of Factor VIII concentrate during and after the psychiatric treatment phases, which suggests that psychological factors affect Factor VIII concentrate use and that patients with severe hemophilia may benefit from psychiatric intervention.
