Abstract

The thermoelectric power (TEP, S(T)) of the La214 systems doped with Zn, Mg and Ni is investigated. The different effects of magnetic and non-magnetic ion substitutions for Cu site on the TEP have been observed. These experimental observations have been analyzed based on variations of the spin correlation induced by substitutions of Zn, Mg and Ni for Cu site in La214 systems. The analysis suggests that magnetic scattering mechanism plays a major role in the S(T) behaviors.
