Abstract
The utility of boundary layer fences in 90° turning ducts and turbine passages is investigated. The present study isolates the passage vortex structure from the horseshoe vortex by using a duct flow rather than a turbine cascade. The turbine passage or internal coolant duct is simulated to study the interaction effects of the boundary layer fence and the passage flow dominated by the passage vortices.
