Abstract

Acutely intoxicated chronic alcoholics were studied in a double-blind experiment to assess the influence of clonidine on short-term memory. The study suggests clonidine may delay recovery of short-term memory function. Since clonidine is widely used in the treatment of acute alcohol withdrawal, clinicians should be aware of this potential side effect.
