Abstract

Negative electrodes were made from the hydrogen storage alloy MlNi3.45 (CoMnTi)1.55 (Ml-La-rich misch metal) modified by mixing it with bismuth oxide. The discharge capacity and the high-rate dischargeability of the modified electrode were greatly increased due to the reaction that reduced bismuth oxide to nodular bismuth during the first charging reaction resulting in an increase of the electrical conductivity and the improvement of the electrocatalytic activity of the electrode.
