Abstract

Electrostrlctive effects in the potassium tantalate niobate solid solution (K(TaQ 55NbQ 45)03) have been investigated. The electrostrictive coefficients were determined by a strain gauge technique and by the measurement of hydrostatic pressure dependence of dielectric constant near the Curie and - 9 -9 temperature. The Q values obtained are Q11=9. 5×10-2, Q12=-3.6xl0 Qh=2.3x10-2 which are almost the same as those of end-members, KTaO3 and KNbO3. The “constant QC rule” is maintained in this solid solution.
