Abstract

A program of end-of-primary (EOP) and long-duration odometer tests on both thick and thin specimens of a fibrous peat with the same aspect ratio has been performed. Conventional curve-fitting methods used for inorganic soils are found to be unreliable for this peat. There is no significant difference in the EOP compression curves for the long-duration and EOP tests. However, a comparison of compression curves from thick and thin specimens indicates a tendency to deviate from the unique EOP concept in the virgin loading range.
