Abstract

We describe the application of the well-known technique of signal averaging for the enhancement of signal-to-noise ratio to the field of ultra- and hypersonic waves. The technique often referred to as autocorrelation is useful in at least two ways: (1) as an aid in extending the range of measurements toward higher frequencies, (2) as a help in improving the precision and accuracy in attenuation data.
