N2 - Engineering design problem-solving applications require creativity and innovation to produce novel solutions. While creativity was highly sought after, evaluating concept creativity was difficult due to its inherently subjective nature, limited automated assessment tools, and a reliance on domain experts to perform evaluations. This had led to challenges with identifying the impact of tools and educational interventions on engineering creativity, calling for a need for automated and reliable tools that can effectively evaluate engineering creativity. This work presented the design and evaluation of the Creativity Assessment Platform (CAP), an early-stage user-interface that leveraged semantic distance analysis for conducting objective assessment of engineering creativity. User feedback on the system showed that educators found the platform to be promising for enabling digital assessments, appreciating its potential for objective analysis. However, they also highlighted key limitations, including the restriction to text-based inputs, usability concerns, and the need for clearer interface design and faster, more intuitive functionality. These findings were used to form the necessary recommendations for future improvements in the tool.
