Abstract
This paper develops techniques for using the properties of redundant residue number systems for error correction and overflow suppression in digital filters. The theory is presented for simultaneously suppressing overflow oscillations and for detecting and correcting single errors, for the design of filters that are capable of continued operation in the presence of recurring errors. A filter simulation program is described and simulation results are presented to illustrate the principles.
