Abstract
Drawing from a year-long ethnographic study with 75 newcomer youth attending a comprehensive high school in South Los Angeles, this article focuses on answering the question, how do newcomer youth, who are embedded in transnational social fields, envision their futures? Utilizing a transborder framework allows for an analysis that attends to newcomer youth’s border-crossing futures. The article sheds light on how newcomer youth, despite immigration status, engage in envisioning a future where there are no limits on migration. I end by inviting educators to decenter a mononational lens to better attend to newcomer youth futures.
