Abstract

To see if there is any difference in the fishing power, paired tows were made using the research vehicles Albatross IV and Delaware II off southern New England and on the Georges Bank. The catch station locations were preselected using a stratified sampling scheme. A total of 142 successful pairs of tows were performed during 1982 over a large area that encompassed a variety of depth and bottom types. A method of estimation of relative fishing power is presented and the results of using the method to analyze the catch data is tabulated and discussed.
