Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This article surveys the different divisions of philosophy in general and moral philosophy in particular. It points out that while ethics and morality have one same common linguistic root, the two terms have come to stand for two different approaches to ethical theory. The moral philosophies of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle are discussed. Kantian deontology and utilitarianism are also analyzed. The article concludes with a brief overview of three twentieth-century moral theories.
