Abstract

The author describes a menu-driven program for the IBM PC designed to facilitate and stimulate the evaluation of diagnostic tests. The user may enter, edit, store, and retrieve data on test performance. Evaluation of these data proceeds using interactive graphic displays which illustrate the techniques of Bayesian analysis. The program includes a simple decision-tree model of test performance, allowing the user to estimate the value of testing in different clinical situations.
