Abstract
The direct optical and electrical writing of conductive paths and nanoscale heterojunctions with molecular tunneling bridges was reported. The electrical heterojunctions nature was examined by using dc voltage. The silver oxide thin films (15-80 nm) were prepared by using rf sputtering and chemical bath deposition. The electrically formed heterojunctions show polarity-dependent electroluminescence (EL) and diode behavior (polarity dependent dc current). The heterojunction nature of the electromigration-induced junction was described by imaging the fluorescence from each electrode. The electromigration-induced junctions show silver nanocluster EL with nanocluster energy levels pinned to those of the anode.
