Abstract
Attaining postsecondary credentials gives an individual access to a career, higher salaries, and other benefits such as health insurance. Unfortunately, everyone in the United States does not get the opportunity to pursue postsecondary options. Specifically, Black students in K–12 have experienced barriers to postsecondary pathways. In this chapter, we discuss the factors that impact the postsecondary transitions of Black students. Last, we discuss the practice, policy, and research recommendations for improving postsecondary transitions for Black students.
