Familial resemblances in flushing following alcohol use

Abstract

Forty-seven sets of parents and 77 adult offspring from families of Caucasian, Chinese, or Japanese ancestry provided data regarding their use of alcohol and their flushing responses following alcohol consumption. There were no significant sex or generational differences in flushing. In keeping with previous research, race/ethnicity was associated with the flushing response. Flushing appears to be inherited as a genetic dominant.
