    Abstract

The convergence behavior of a new fault tolerant FIR adaptive filter (FTAF) is analyzed in both the fault-free case and after coefficient faults have occurred. The analysis is based on examining the eigenvalues of the autocorrelation matrix formed from the input signals to the functional adaptive coefficients. The dependence of the post-fault convergence rate on the order of the FTAF, as well as on the choice of the transform matrix, is explained. Two alternative structures are presented which have improved convergence behavior.
