Abstract
The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method which could be successfully used to study resonant modes in dielectric resonator (DR) antennas was demonstrated. As such, standing wave patterns of electric and magnetic field components were simulated and the mode charts for different mode types were constructed. It was shown that the resonant fields in DR antennas were equivalent to those created by combinations of magnetic or electric dipoles located in the DRs.
