Abstract
The use of the FDTD modeling of microstrip leaky wave antennas (MLWA) to study the dispersion characteristics of leaky modes propagating along the radiating microstrip lines is shown. In particular, modeling the antennas with an open end provides an opportunity to investigate standing waves, determine their wavelength, and obtain the propagation (phase) constant of the leaky mode. Modeling the antennas with PML termination allows to visualize the leakage and to determine the attenuation constants.
