Abstract

Art educators from the U.S. and China, Dr Karen Keifer-Boyd and Dr Xinxin Guo describe the U.S.-China Art Summit, a project dedicated to the advancement of global art education by promoting the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences through dialogue, group exhibitions, and professional development programs. The USCAS brings U.S. and Chinese scholars, artists, designers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers together to share and discuss art education program design, research, community development, and social impact. It also provides collaborative possibilities, partnerships among participants as well as opportunities for students to work on international cultural projects. Focusing on an emerging feminist art education exchange, Keifer-Boyd and Guo address censorship of academia, including the why and how of international arts programming and the building of sustainable relationships.
