Filtering With Uniformly Distributed RC Networks

This brief presents filters made with two uniformly distributed RC network elements - either by cascading or paralleling or differencing. Filters of all types, except all-pass are considered. Expressions for the voltage gain in each case are provided, which happen to be irrational functions of the normalized frequency variable. Predicting the nature of the overall frequency response for each of these connections from the physical reasoning proves to be nontrivial. By explicitly deriving the transfer functions and actually computing we are able to identify filter characteristics.
