Abstract
There are multiple factors that make for a good “fit” between applicants and residency training programs. Applicants need to understand the logistics of the application and interview process first and research programs via multiple resources. They also need to have an accurate estimate of the strength of their own application and insight into their appeal as a candidate to programs. As no match is perfect, applicants need to determine their list of priorities as well as which concessions they are willing to make in finding the right residency program. Only after these factors are considered at length and then balanced will an applicant be able to maximize fit with a given program.
